The inclinometer is a basic tool which uses a pendulum to show how level across your track is. We recommend that you do not use track with more than a 3 deg tilt. As seen below this equates to nearly 10mm difference between rails and can lead to unstable coaches and possibly lifting of wheels to the extent the flange fails to engage with the rail. ![]() It is not just the extent of the tilt but also how quick and close track twists are. A +2 deg lean changing to -2deg over 2m metres will likelly bring off a long coach. ![]() To make this more affordable we have made the wheels from steel sandwich of laser cut disks. This also means that the readings are not affected by the coning of standard wheels. The Ride on Railways Inclinometer is the idea tool to help identify track issues and provide proof track is regularly checked that it is fit for purpose. Simplicity of design and height makes this a far easier tool to use than bending over trying to use a spirit level. Any driver concerns about track can be quickly checked out . Price
